In Episode 105, Chey and Pav question how teachers can go beyond traditional language arts programming in order to establish meaningful connections to reading in all areas of the curriculum. Creating a “culture of reading” goes beyond the ritualistic and hierarchical reading programs that we have been accustomed to teaching. It involves incorporating reading in its many forms daily and in all areas of the curriculum. It involves going beyond the science to encompass a balanced approach. Chey and Pav talk about their experiences with establishing reading culture in their classrooms, with some fun anecdotes along the way.
