Orange Shirt Day – A conversation with Mona Jones

By Marguerite Thomson

Conversations and Keynotes from the 2019 CPCO Conference held in Toronto on November 21-22. The theme for this year's conference, Compassion: Leading with Heart, attracted over 200 Catholic school leaders from across Ontario.

In this episode, the Support Services Team speaks with Mona Jones, the Early Years Teacher Coordinator for Garden River First Nations. Mona explains the significance of the chosen colour and date of September 30, the new Federal Statutory holiday. Mona also takes us through a journey that outlines the history of Turtle Island to help us develop an understanding of the impact of this history on our Indigenous communities.
