I am excited about joining this group of Canadian teachers to talk about the future of education. What a great opportunity to share hopes and ideas. Here’s a little bit about my background. I have been teaching Communications Technology in the Waterloo Region since 1997.  I also teach Advanced Communications Technology online for Queens University and I am on the executive for the Association For Media Literacy. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Radio and Television Broadcasting from Ryerson University and my Masters of Arts is in Media Production, also from Ryerson. I am a beginning documentary film-maker and a former radio news broadcaster.

My website is at janemitchinson.ca and I can be found on Twitter at @jmitchinson

Welcome to voicEd.ca, Jane. It will be great to have your experience and insight here. In particular, your passion for communication and media will add an interesting “frame” to the conversations.

It’s great to have all voices here, including those of parents, community educators, administrators…all with a perspective and a heart for education in Canada.

On a personal note, I have to tell you that I have always had a passion for radio and television…radio, in particular. I envy your attendance at Ryerson for RTA…that was part of my dream growing up!

    Welcome…and now the news…

Jane, not only is your academic background impressive but so too are your radio and TV credentials. They will be so valuable to this forum. I am really looking forward to your insights.
