Hello Everyone,
I’ve been teaching for about 8 years. Most of those years were teaching Grade 8 Language, History and Geography. This year I’m trying something completely different. I team-teach almost every subject (except music, phys. ed. and French) to a group of Grade 7 students in a public school in Brampton using the I.b. curriculum. Our school has installed a wifi network this year, and we allow (and strongly encourage) the students to bring in their own tech devices (laptops, netboks, ipads, cell phones) to use in the learning environment. My areas of interest right now are technology, integration and collaboration.
I’m also really excited to see the changes happening in education all around the world. The debate seems to have shifted from, “Should schools change and adapt to the globalized, information-driven world?” to “How can schools change and adapt to remain relevant in the “new” world?” to a more pointed “How long can we afford to delay these changes?”. My answer? We’re already at least 10 years late.

Neil, your first post is brilliant. I believe we are all moving from a system that was based on an Industrial Model and moving to the Information System. I agree with you that we are about 10 years behind and we need to move beyond quickly.
Is it good enough to just catch up or do we need to think beyond today so our students are prepared for the future that will challenge them and us?
Great Stuff…
How lucky you are to be engaging in such an innovation and constructive learning experience. Wow! Never imagined this could have been possible 10 years ago and reality has it, it’s not possible in many of the schools around us today. Amazing! Looking forward to hearing about your learning experiences and discoveries!
