Speak up. Stand out. Be Change.

That’s the message I often provide for my students. That if you are not part of the conversation, you are missing out.  That’s why I’m looking forward to the potential for community and conversation that will come with this website.

I am a teacher in Kitchener, where I teach English. I am actively and passionately involved in the Futures Forum Project where we are attempting to create the classroom of the future by merging courses, integrating technology, and basing our class around the principles of inquiry.  This pilot project is now in its second year and we have seen very solid success from a variety of students. I’m sure you’ll hear more about it.

I have been actively blogging for a couple years now at The Radical Tactical Shift where I espouse my thoughts, thinking and questions about the nature of education, the values of teaching and the need for an educational revolution/shift.

As the community that is voicEd.ca grows, I anticipate swift discussion, vigorous debate and a place where we can explore how we peer into the future and help our students find their way through. There are those who believe “the old ways work” and it is a legitimate point of view. However, I bring forth a perspective that our world is radically different. Every industry is dealing or dying and education is no exception. Where information is free and accessible, we need to rethink and redefine the why of a central school environment. If we don’t re-evaluate, what are the repercussions?

I look forward to talking, questions, debating and learning from this rich community.
